Straight off the photo shoot set in Paris, we were honored to have exclusive access to designer, Mablé Agbodan’s latest collection of luxury dressing gowns, made of 100% organic cotton. She tells us that her latest collection is very personal and involves a cause very close to her heart.
The French/Togolese designer has been designing the homes of world re-known fashion designers all over the world for around 10 years before launching her own label ‘Mablé Agbodan’, designing both fashion and accessories. Known for her love of using natural and organic materials that have lower environmental impact, the ethereal designer has always been very passionate about giving local artisans in less developed countries opportunities to bring their work to an international audience. She realized this dream recently by forming a foundation which she called ‘Club des Métiers et d’Artisanat au Togo’. The foundation involves Togolese artisans in the making of her collections, and we can confirm that the result of their involvement in her latest collection is nothing short of astonishing.
[justified_image_grid exclude=featured]“The inspiration behind my new collection is philanthropic”, she declared. “My aim is to promote the skills of skilled local Togolese artisans who use local ethical materials and old garment making techniques to produce luxurious fashion and home accessories”, she added. Through Mablé Agbodan’s mentorship, the skilled craftsmen are now able produce modern fashion and accessories that are sold worldwide.
The designer’s ability to turn her work into a means of raising awareness and support for Togolese artisans with her foundation, Club des Métiers et d’Artisanat au Togo which she created to be a voice for craftswomen/men and creatives who are just starting out or have ideas they want to develop, is simply inspirational.
